Gretchen gave me a DVD package a couple years ago which didn't include one of his best: Miracle At Morgan Creek. This classic which stars Betty Hutton and Eddie Bracken was the first one I saw as an adult. I have a dim recall of seeing it as a pre-teen. I found it on TMC. Go for it if you find it. 	11/05/06 Oh Michelle OK, I was wrong, Michelle has started to wear the same things twice. Guess she ran through her was cycle. Go HERE. My 1st Book Actually the 1st book I remember reading was called The Red Car. I don't remember the authors name but I found it at the Sibley Library, just around the corner to the left of Zenobia's front desk. It was about a young boy's 1st car, an MG, which he found and bought as a wreck and how he spent his summer restoring it. I found a second book by the same author but it didn't hold up to his first. A generation later my son Aaron bought a 70s "Muscle Car" and restored it. He is now a Porsche mechanic in Minneapolis and has his own shop. Go HERE. 	4/11/09 Comfort Food My Ma used to make a family favorite we called Hamburger & Rice. I've managed to re-create it "pretty well" if not perfectly. Saute onions in olive oil, salt & pepper, I add red pepper and mushrooms as well though they were not in the original recipe. Add 1 pound of ground beef and cook down. Meanwhile cook a cup of rice in salted water. When onions and peppers etc. are wilted, add two cans of Del Monte Stewed tomatoes. (Ma used her own canned version which probably accounts for the innacuracy in my recipe.) When rice is 2/3 cooked add it to the large pot and let cook until rice is fully tender. 	4/6/09 Vietnam/Afghanistan The Stock Market It feels good to see it going up for a few days but it makes me nervous. I've lost so much of my retirement funds that I'm not sure I'll live long enough to get them back so I can leave some change to my kids. The mad money I have in stocks are still down about 8 grand so until they get back to what I invested I'll still feel cheated. Cartoons Of The Day Go HERE.
