Modern Times
Haven't bought the new Dylan yet but you can pre-listen to it. Go HERE.
Just good rock'n roll blues. Thanks Bob.
Actually had Emma buy it on the way home. Yesterday I predicted Bruce's Seeger Sessions as album of The Year. May have to amend that. Modern Times could be the One. Nice toss off. Go Bob! Go Bruce!

Birthday Poems
Schön, better known to some as Midnight Mango, and sister Shirley missed it by a day but no foul, they both called and/or emailed. Each have beautiful lives and families of their own. Kate bought me the latest Ryan Adams and it's good as usual. Emma, My Sparkler, made me a mix of her favorites of my favorite songs and wrote me a bitter-sweet poem.
You can go HERE to read it.

Not A Very Happy Birthday
65 today and needless to say the only thing good is I am now eligible for Medicare; which is essential in my condition. It is not at all diginified to feel so sorry for oneself; but that is the case.
Great and good friends call to offer support, not knowing how difficult it is to talk about anything in the midst of depression.
Some even send messages from Dalai Lama and other Buddhist wisdom which just seem silly.
The US Open is on and I try to watch for distraction but it too is uninteresting. Agassi will play his Swan Song tonight and I'll give a look. I'm rooting for him to win but it's not likely.
My girls and I are going out for Chinese tonight and Emma bought Teramisu for dessert.

Affirmation

To grow old is to lose everything.
Aging, everybody knows it.
Even when we are young,
we glimpse it sometimes, and nod our heads
when a grandfather dies.
Then we row for years on the midsummer
pond, ignorant and content. But a marriage,
that began without harm, scatters
into debris on the shore,...

Hiatus Continues Indefinitely

My personal life has fallen apart, never to be repaired. Ann is gone, never to return.

"Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."
--Wm. Butler Yeats (1st stanza of The Second Coming)
