	7/22/08 More On Mad Men I TiVoed a few more episodes from the 1st season for Kate The Great and the new season begins on the 27th. So, last night, I watched a couple more episodes to make sure of my take. Verdict: It's even worse than I first thought. The smoking and drinking is getting ridiculous, the men are all jerks, the women are either whores, mules or saps being cheated on. Except the lead handsome man; he is troubled and I can already guess what's bothering him. The anti-semitism theme is becoming heavier and he's falling in love with a depressing Jewish woman. 	7/12/08 Beth Orton $3 donation will get you into the Prospect Park Bandshell, Saturday night at 7:30. Gates open 6:30. Kate and I will be there. Weather looks good. Update: Subways screwed up, of course, it's the weekend but Kate the Great was a bit more savvy about Brooklyn nabes so we managed to get there and got decent seats. Problem is: The warm up group was perhaps the most boring group of Brooklyn boy you can imagine. They played a full hour then another 1/2 hour to set up two mikes and a rug for Beth. After that it got pretty good with a few exceptions. The two girls on my left checked their cell phones every 5 minutes and were text messaging furiously; stopping only to applaude. Then there was a group of "Friends" of Celebrate Brooklyn who had a special section to have dinner while the concert was in progress. The hum and drone of the bunch was irritating to say the least. The music was fine and Orton was giddy; telling us a few times that she had a daughter, now 19 months, in the audience. Go HERE. Shopping My drinking glasses have been disappearing and as I broke another last night, it was time to replace them. I thought about buying online but opted for Century 21. Bad decision. Had an immediate panic attack and almost vomited from all the perfume; masses of overweight women (90% women) buying stuff. Luckily I found a set of 12 for 8 bucks.
