9/21/09On Growing OldI've noticed that beautiful young girls are no longer afraid of smiling and being friendly to me. And I don't mean just in the mid-west and Texas. There is this gorgeous dark haired beauty around the corner who smiles at me each time we pass. She's about 30, perhaps. I'm 68 and feeling it. We've never met and I resist chatting her up. It's in the area of fantasy. I'm not that far gone.

TodayBack from a week of partying in Sioux Falls and Minneapolis. BFF Carl Grupp's 70 birthday went on for 4 days and with too much food. Met my next wife at the neighborhood coffee shop but she didn't know me. A pretty widow forced me to dance for the first time in 10-15 years. Took a hundred pix but only three or four were any good. Talked way too much about health and various afflictions. My first painting teacher has Parkinson's and didn't recognize me but he managed to dance with his rolling walker. Kate the Great cleaned my loft while I was gone and now she's off to her final year at U. of Chicago. Sparkler is coming for dinner tonight which will be great. Got a look at Aaron's new house and 10 car garage out by Lake Minnetonka and had dinner with the Donut Man and Judith Leo. Visited with sister Shirley and bro-in-law Cy and found out ever more scandals in the family. Located bro Dennis who was in hiding and he seemed happy to see me.
